ABOUT

Azul, from Twisted Wonderland, is the dorm leader of Octavinelle and owner of Mostro Lounge, a high-end business venture that serves food and drink on campus. Normally a mer-octopus who hails from north of the Coral Sea, Azul typically takes a potion that gives him a human appearance so that he may walk and attend school on land, though he's still getting used to walking on two legs. He attends Night Raven College, a prestigious, secondary educational institution for those with great skill in magic.

At a glance, Azul appears both pleasant and confident, always in control of the situation and rarely perturbed. At second glance, the edges of Azul's smile seem just a little too curled up, and you might realize his demeanor is closer to that of a used car salesman than anything. At third glance, you might realize Azul is stubborn, petty, and desperate to stand at the top, no matter how grand or trivial the matter might be.

Outwardly, Azul seems agreeable enough, if a little too eager to make a good impression and a little excessive in his confident pretense. He loves to show off his skills and success, and he takes great pains to always be in a position of advantage. Though highly intelligent and insightful, he's far from subtle; despite his desire to be seen as an elegant and refined gentleman, he wears his heart on his sleeve and can be awfully embarrassing with just how badly he wants to impress. That is, when he isn't being a bit of a frustrating bastard by conning you into a deal that seems a little too good to be true, or casually strong-arming you with a bit of blackmail. You know, gentleman stuff.

Grown up bullied as a "clumsy, dumb, ink-spilling octopus," Azul has chosen to mask his weak, crybaby self with sheer stubbornness, determined to prove he can trump everyone around him. Despite his decidedly open mind toward underhanded methods, at heart Azul is a creature made of hard work. He studies, researches, and practices to an extent a normal person would never consider— all because he doesn't want to be laughed at or thought of as less capable. He struggles to trust others, and operates on cautious, give-and-take capitalist principles. He can trust a price, and he can trust a contract, but it's much harder to trust something as nebulous as another person.

Mer-octopus We don't have a visual reference for his non-corrupted mer-octopus form, but, while corrupted, it looks like this. His noncorrupted form likely lacks the glowing eye, the lace over the eye, the ink and coral shoulder plates, the crown, and the shells at his hips.
DEMEANOR Cool and in control, Azul makes good effort to maintain the relaxed, condescending air of a mob boss.

MAGICAL/MENTAL INFORMATION What Azul says and what Azul thinks tend to be different, but he doesn't have any mental barriers and can be mind-read easily.

Otherwise, Azul would read as a sea creature (mer-octopus) under the effect of a magical concoction (the thing that gives him a human form/legs). He's also very capable with magic, and would give off a magical reading similar to any skilled wizard in Harry Potter.

SKILLS Azul is an exceptional wizard for his age, and can use a variety of magic, as is standard for people in his universe.

Azul also has something called a unique magic, a type of magical ability only he has, called It's A Deal. At its core, it allows him to steal any ability from another creature, whether the ability is magical or non-magical. In function, Azul facilitates his ability with a "contract" system. You ask him for something; he gives it to you in return for something else. If he gives you his end of the bargain upfront, he'll request collateral from you as proof you'll hold up your end of the bargain, too. Signing the contract actualizes this agreement.

In his world, casting magic causes magical exhaust, known as blot. Too much blot can cause the corruption (known as overblot) and eventual death of the caster. Normal abilities, which are weaker due to their limitations, don't produce much blot. Azul's ability, which allows him to just take what he wants, is so powerful that it produces a massive amount of blot instantly; thus, he created his contract system to stem the amount of blot his ability produces by creating artificial limitations.

Otherwise, Azul excels in brewing alchemical potions. He used to have a huge stockpile of OP abilities as collateral from contractors who couldn't fulfill their ends of the bargain, but, well, those contracts were destroyed, which rendered all those agreements null and void.

PHYSICAL AFFECTION While I'm fine with it, Azul doesn't welcome it from strangers, and hates being vulnerable. He's likely to engage in it very rarely, unless the other person is pushy in initiating, and initiating consistently.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE Go for it. He can fight and uses magic to do so, but he's not built for fighting; he's more of a magical strategist. Overwhelming him physically is easy; overwhelming him magically might be annoying because he's pretty crafty in how he uses his magic. If you want to play a thread where his magic is nulled for whatever reason, I'm down for it.
INJURIES / DEATH I don't mind it. If you've given me a heads up for violence, then feel free to assume injuries are okay. I'd prefer to plot ahead a little if you're interested in grievous injuries or death, though, just so I have an idea of what's coming.
SMUT OTA for both his human self and tentacles. Note that, despite his ostentation, he's probably not a good top and is better suited to being topped in his human form (I can go either way with his tentacles/mer-octopus form, I'm flex).
SHIPPING I'm totally cool with shipping, but Azul is definitely a stubborn, slowburn character, so assuming CR is preferable.
